Mahasti Khakpour Dr. Mahasti Khakpour, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Interdisciplinary Health Program at St. Francis Xavier University and Director of the Population Health, Equity, and Advocacy Research Lab (PEARL). Her work sits at the intersection of health systems, policy, and equity, with a focus on how structural and institutional factors shape access to care. Her research spans multiple areas, including non-urgent interfacility patient transfers, health workforce integration, and food systems, reflecting a broader interest in how resources, services, and opportunities are distributed across populations. Grounded in community-engaged and interdisciplinary approaches, her work brings together policymakers, health system leaders, and community partners to address complex challenges in service delivery and access. Her work is supported by national and provincial funding and involves collaboration with policymakers, healthcare providers, and community partners. Dr. Khakpour uses mixed-methods approaches, including implementation and evaluation frameworks, to generate evidence that informs policy and practice. She is committed to advancing equitable, patient-centered health systems through applied and policy-relevant research. She holds a PhD from the University of Saskatchewan and has prior experience in applied health research and system-level evaluation. |
