Dr. Walter Tavares Dr. Walter Tavares is a Scientist and Assistant Professor in Health Professions and Practice in the Department of Health and Society, at the Wilson Centre for Health Professions Education Research and the Department of Medicine. He in the inaugural Director of the “Paramedicine at the Department of Family and Community Medicine” program at the University of Toronto. He is also a Paramedic, and Scientist with York Region Paramedic and Senior Services. He holds a PhD in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University in the Department of Biostatistics and Clinical Epidemiology. His program of research focuses on health professions education, and community-based health and social services, mainly by advancing paramedicine science, policy and practice. Walter is an experienced clinician, educator, researcher and leader, having worked closely with several health professions, specialities, and collaborative healthcare and health system networks. His work has led to numerous innovations and invitations to contribute across health professions locally, nationally and internationally. |
