Desmond Hedderson


Desmond Hedderson is a PhD student at the University of Victoria and holds a master’s degree in health information science. He has led several peer-reviewed studies at the intersection of paramedicine and digital health. His research explores the integration of digital health technologies in paramedicine, with a focus on clinical documentation and data interoperability. He hopes to lay the foundation for the emerging field of Paramedicine Informatics.

Desmond is an Advanced Care Paramedic with more than 20 years of diverse experience spanning ground, flight, remote and offshore paramedicine. Throughout his career, he has served in a wide range of clinical, operational, and leadership roles across five provinces in Canada. He currently serves as the Commander of Technical Operations for Yukon Emergency Health Services.
